All of these behaviors come from irrational thoughts that have been caused by some kind of trauma or distress in your life.

Worrying comes from lack of trust and faith in oneself, self-doubt, not feeling safe with one’s decisions or abilities to handle life’s situations. All of these characteristics are the result of other’s negative feedback to us when we were growing up.
Excessive or “toxic” worrying is when the worry becomes paralyzing and can be harmful to one’s mental and/or physical health. Those with excessive worry can experience more physical medical problems such as ulcers, fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, etc., to name only a few.
Excessive worry makes it close to impossible to think logically, interfering dramatically with our ability to think positive and/or solve various life problems we are presented with.
When worrying becomes excessive, something known as the “fight or flight” response could be triggered. You lose focus and the ability to concentrate and think “straight”. This automatic physiological reaction actually shuts down the cognitive part of the brain, thus nullifying any possibility for problem solving during this period.
But, believe it or not, you are not doomed to a lifetime of worrying!
